Powell

Although Powell has been improved over the years, you can still see plenty of the Old South architecture there. There are a few Antebellum homes along Emory Road, some of which functioned as Confederate hospitals during the American Civil War. Formerly known as Powell Station, Powell functions more like an independent small town than the suburb it is.

Powell, which the locals pronounce as “Pal,” is tucked between Clinton and Downtown Knoxville. It is a short drive from West Knoxville, which means you’ll be able to access all the amenities of a big city within a 15-minute drive.

It has always had a strong sense of community and boasts a diverse mixture of demographics. Powell has something for everyone and offers convenient access to shopping, dining, and Knoxville hospitals. In town, you’ll enjoy a vast selection of cultural and recreational activities.

You can spend a relaxing afternoon bird watching at Collier Preserve or take a trip to one of the many parks. Powell’s parks are well equipped, with splash pads, a skate park, playgrounds, and tons of open space. After you work up an appetite, stop by one of Powell's mouth-watering eateries. Don’t pass up Lulu’s Tea Room; you can check out their iconic Elvis Room while you enjoy your food.

In Powell, you’ll be able to bask in the joys of small-town life, despite never being more than a short drive away from big-city amenities.

Powell is located in the 37849 zip code.
