South Knoxville is one of the earliest settlements in Knoxville. Up until recently, it was a predominantly agricultural area. It didn’t see explosive growth until a bridge was built connecting it to the rest of Knoxville.

It’s impossible to sum the area up in a few words, so we’ll say that it’s just a vibe in itself. There are plenty of breweries, local restaurants, and even a riverfront park. Suttree Landing Park is an 8.3-acre park that features a lawn area for events, a put-in for your canoes or kayaks, multiple river overlooks, a playground, restrooms, and picnic tables.

South Knoxville is also ideally located close to UT Campus, Downtown Knoxville, so you’ll be close to all the events and concerts that come into town. South Knoxville is directly off of the Chapman Highway, which will take you all the way into Sevier County anytime you want to enjoy the more touristy stuff. However, there is no shortage of activities for the whole family in South Knoxville and Servier.

You can explore Ijams Nature Center, pay a visit to Market Square, catch a performance at the Tennessee Theatre, or visit the historical home section on Island Home Avenue to soak in some gorgeous architecture. The area is also home to Island Home Airport, so you can easily explore local dining, lodging, and entertainment. In addition to the beautiful scenery and abundance of outdoor activities, Servier and South Knoxville are home to some of the best dining opportunities in Tennessee.
