Fountain City was initially named Adair Fort after its founder, a Revolutionary War veteran named John Adair. The locals changed the name in 1980 to commemorate the recently completed heart-shaped Fountain City fountain.
It is currently a cute little community that is conveniently located to everything you could possibly need. Located between Halls and Downtown Knoxville, Fountain City has a great mixture of local and chain businesses. They also provide plenty of variety in terms of activity. Some of the options include Fountain City Lake, commonly referred to as Duck Pond, and Adair Park.
There is also the Fountain City Art Center, the Knoxville Museum of Art, and the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture, among many other centers for recreation and education.
Despite being so close to Downtown Knoxville, there is no shortage of delicious eateries nearby. You can choose from delectable offerings like Sam & Andy’s, Sweet P’s Uptown Corner, and Littons. While they’re all fantastic, Littons is absolutely a must-try! It is home to award-winning cheeseburgers and some of the best desserts in town.
Fountain City has an abundance of natural sights to see, and since it’s very close to public transportation lines, you’ll be able to relax and explore the city as much as you like.
