Corryton was settled by a Revolutionary War veteran named John Sawyers. It was an agrarian community up until the addition of a rail station in the late 1880s. Despite its humble origins as an agricultural community, Corryton has one central claim to fame.

Country fans will be delighted to learn that Corryton is home to the high school Kenny Chesney graduated from. And Chesney isn’t the only country star with ties to Corryton. Other notable musicians include Ashley Monroe, Morgan Wallen, and Phil Leadbetter.

If you're looking to escape the city, Corryton has all the nature and beautiful landscapes you need. Yet, it is a bedroom community, meaning most inhabitants commute to a nearby city for work. Knoxville is only a 30-minute drive away, so you can combine the joys of rural living with easy access to all of your city needs. But with the beautiful scenery and everything else Corryton has to offer, you won’t want to leave often.

You can spend your evening at Oakes Farm or hike in the gorgeous House Mountain State Park. In addition, you can check out Spout Spring Estates Winery and Vineyard, where you can enjoy wine tasting, educational tours, and stunning surroundings.

The Sun Sphere, which was built to commemorate the 1982 World’s Fair, is a one-of-a-kind 266-foot tall observation deck. The Sun Sphere frequently hosts events and is an excellent place for you and the whole family.

Corryton, zipcode 37721, is a charming small town with a variety of kid-friendly activities, community centers, and parks.
